Vodafone Ireland is widely recognised as an employer that genuinely invests in its people. With award-winning programmes spanning menopause leave, enhanced parental support and a strong occupational health offering, the organisation already had a solid wellbeing foundation in place.
But when Kate Fitzmaurice joined as Head of Internal Communications and Engagement, she noticed a recurring problem: employees weren’t sure where to turn when they needed support, and finding the right service took effort they often didn’t have in the moment.
Kate had previous experience introducing wellbeing platforms at HubSpot and TikTok. She searched for a European provider that could match the quality she’d seen from US-based tools — and Kara Connect stood out. The decision wasn’t just about features. It was about partnership.
Kara Connect offered complimentary credits for the pilot phase, actively sought feedback throughout, and iterated quickly on what wasn’t working — including accelerating the mobile app launch to solve the retail accessibility challenge.
When the Kara Connect mobile app launched, it was a turning point. Retail employees could download the app and access support at a time that suited them — no desktop required. Vodafone also created a “hybrid health map”: a simple poster with four columns and QR codes placed in stores, so every employee could see exactly what support was available, whether at home or in-store.
