As part of our Vetting Form, we ask professionals to indicate the number of years they have been operating in their field.
In our Vetting Form, professionals must upload copies of their accreditation and certifications for completed studies.
All professionals undergo a video or face-to-face meeting to assess their expertise, communication skills, and knowledge in their field.
Once professionals have successfully completed the vetting process, we conduct a 45-minute session to ensure their understanding and proficiency in using our secure tools. We also conduct a qualitative assessment when creating their profiles and granting access to the Kara Connect Workstation. When professionals start working with our partner organisations, we conduct customer satisfaction surveys to gather feedback on their performance and employee experience.
While not all specialities require membership in governing bodies, we request certificates validating any approved memberships during vetting.
When partnering with Kara Connect, professionals must:
All professionals must complete an Intake/Interest form, agree to our terms and conditions, Standards Framework, and DPA, and go through the vetting and onboarding process. (All of our IRL & UK Psychologist and Psychotherapists Professionals are affiliated with relevant membership governing bodies, including the IACP, APCP, PSI, UKPC, NCS, BPC, BACP BPC, UKC UKRCP, BCP, BABCP, amongst others.) Every counsellor, psychotherapist, psychologist, and psychoanalyst registered with Kara Connect has had their qualifications checked and ratified. They all operate within the strict ethical guidelines the appropriate governing bodies set. Each therapist will adhere to the code of ethics and principles set out by the following organisations.
All professionals working with Kara Connect need to consent to having read and understood the Kara Connect’ Standards of Practice and Guidelines. The aim of the Kara Connect Standards is to support the achievement of safe, appropriate and effective quality services that align with the overall goals and values of Kara Connect.
Professionals partnering with Kara Connect undergo a vetting process and must understand supervision requirements. Consultation with a supervisor is essential, regardless of qualifications and experience. Professional and Clinical Supervision is vital in mental health and coaching services. It ensures safe, efficient, and effective service delivery and improves professionals’ skills. Through the Kara Connect Supervision Hub, we provide our professionals with access to quality supervision in a secure environment. Our Supervisors are trained and qualified and offer services within their competency and training, including online work.
Clinical supervision is compulsory for accredited mental health professionals and recommended for non-accredited professionals. It supports professionals, ensures their wellbeing, prevents burnout, and enhances clients’ safety and effectiveness. Kara Connect requires monthly supervision for psychologists, psychotherapists, and counsellors and biannual supervision for life coaches and other non accredited professionals.
Services start with a problem assessment to determine whether short-term intervention is suitable or more intensive support is needed. Through workplace wellbeing services, Kara Connect Wellbeing Hubs promote mental health and employee satisfaction. Kara Connect recommends conducting a thorough risk assessment for all clients when working online or remotely. This includes assessing, monitoring, and responding to the risk of suicide and self-harm, potential harm to others, the risk to the client from someone else, the presence of personal support, and the need to gather local information to respond to any potential risk. Professionals should also maintain necessary contact details, including those of healthcare or social care professionals local to the client. Rigorous evaluation is crucial for continued success.
The WHO-5 Wellbeing Index
Kara Connect uses the WHO-5 Wellbeing Index to measure the impact of initiatives and monitor client progress.
Therapeutic Alliance Measurements
Research indicates that the client-clinician relationship is a key predictor of positive treatment outcomes. Measuring this alliance assesses the strength of the bond and comfort in sharing thoughts and goals.
ARM-5
Clinicians frequently use the ARM-5 to practice feedback-informed treatment. It’s designed for use at regular intervals, such as every session, every second session, or every third session, towards the end of a therapy session.
The ARM-5 is a 5-item version of the Agnew Relationship Measure, a self-report measure developed to assess the client-therapist alliance. As the therapeutic alliance is one of the strongest predictors of treatment success, this tool can help clinicians identify the dropout risk and track any ruptures or repairs in the alliance. The ARM-5 is comparable to other scales, like the Session Rating Scale (SRS), in predicting client outcomes (Bouchard, 2018).
The ARM-5 assesses three dimensions of alliance that are crucial for treatment efficacy: Bond, Partnership, and Confidence in therapy.
