Kara Connect is not an immediate crisis service, nor does it employ on-call staff. It is not a medical service either. If you're experiencing an emotional crisis and you're in the UK, consider calling NHS 111 for non-emergency advice. If there's a risk of harm to yourself or others, call the Samaritans on 116 123, dial 999, or go directly to A&E. For other countries, refer to the list below.

Iceland
  • 112 - Emergency Operators are on call 24/7. There is room for eight operators at the guard post in Skógarhlíð, but the number of operators on duty depends on the estimated load.

  • Helpline 1717 and chat 1717.is The Helpline is always open and accessible, and complete confidentiality is promised.

  • Heilsugæslan - The Health Care Centre of the Capital Area operates fifteen health care centres in Reykjavík, Seltjarnarnes, Mosfellsbær, Kópavogur, Garðabær and Hafnarfjörður. You can see their locations on the map.

    Coordinated services are available at all of the health care centres, and on the homepages of the centres, you can find information about logistics, e.g. service hours.

  • Félagsþjónustan/Social Centres offering: Social activities for adults

  • Pieta Iceland. Pieta, provides a range of services nationally to people who are experiencing thoughts of suicide, those who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide. All of their services are provided free of charge, and no referral is needed.

  • Bergið Headspace: Support and counselling Centre for young adults for up to 25 years of age.
